SkyShards

Adds map pins for skyshards to the world map and compass.


In-game configuration is in the SETTINGS -> Addon Settings -> SkyShards menu,
or use command /skyshards

How to manually install addon:
  1. Go to the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder in your Documents
    Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\<version>\
    (replace <version> with the client you're using - "live" or "liveeu")
  2. You should find an AddOns folder, if you don't, create one.
  3. Extract the addon from downloaded zip file to the AddOns folder
  4. Log into the game, and in the character creation screen, you'll find the Addons menu. Enable your addons from there.

- Per default, this feature is disabled. The difficulty is sorted by the entries order, "Zone Quests" is the hardest success to achieve.

- "Zone Main Quest" will show unknown SkyShards after completion of Zone Quest Storyline.
- "Wayshrines" will show unknown SkyShards after discovering of all Wayshrines of the zone.
- "Exploration" will show unknown SkyShards after completion of all delves and interesting locations of the zone.
- "Zone Quests" will show unknown SkyShards after completion of a certain amount of quests done in zone.

Please note :
- Because there is no Main Quest in Cyrodiil, Cyro Skyshards will always be shown in this mode.
- Because Wayshrines cannot be all unlocked in Cyrodiil, Cyro Skyshards will always be shown in this mode.
- Because there is no wayshrines in Imperial City, Imperial City Skyshards will always be shown in this mode.
- Craglorn Main Quest and Zone Quest share same conditions.

Skyshards maps are good? I got some strange bugs in the cities, like shards where they aren't there or some not unlocked shards on map which I completed

A follow-up to the earlier post:

I have tried deleting and reinstalling SkyShards addon.

I have not adventured anywhere on this specific alt since the previous issue, only used it for daily crafting.

"Urich's Skill Point Finder", when looking at it, comes up with the correct value of 17 skyshards gained by this character (this is borne out by cross-checking against all zones manually).

However, when I hit "K" to bring up the skills screen, it says I have 22/519 skyshards.

Even more weirdly, when I change SkyShards's options and opt for the "Advanced" view on the skill screen, it says "22/519 (2/3)". These two numbers are not even consistent with each other: since, quite obviously, 22 skyshards cannot possibly result in a figure of 2 out of 3 (it would result in 1/3, quite obviously.)

However, 2/3 is consistent with the *correct* number of gained skyshards, namely 17.

So, something is causing the "total number of skyshards gained", as reported by the SkyShards addon, to have been incorrectly incremented by more skyshards than have actually been used (22 instead of 17): the game itself reports the correct calculation (it does not report the full number of gained skyshards at all, only the number towards the next skill point, which is correctly 2 out of 3).

Is there a way to delete all data, re-set and force it to cross-check against actual zone data?

Several other of my characters also have a discrepancy of exactly 5 points between actual skyshards gained, and the total skyshards counter.

I just had a crazy idea which I'm going to try testing some time.

I wonder if the culprit is, in fact, the Folium Discognitum - which, in fact, simply gives exactly two skill points (equivalent to 6 skyshards), but the text in-game often refers to "four or five of those Skyshard things" (when Sheogorath first talks about it) or "half a dozen skyshards" (a couple of sentences later).

So perhaps either the game or the addon is incrementing the total skyshard count by 5 rather than 6, even though what you are actually *getting* is 2 skill points?

(The most annoying thing about wanting to test this, is going to be collecting all those lorebooks to actually reach Mages Guild level 5 again on a new toon... and of course having to go through the actual quests too. Unless someone else out there would like to test, and has a character who has NOT completed the Mages Guild quest line yet.)

No, there isn't a bug with the number of skyshards in The Reach. There are 6, but one of them is visible on BOTH the above and below ground maps ("The Reach" and "Blackreach: Arkzthand Cavern"), because the delve of Gloomreach connects to Blackreach. So there are 7 skyshard icons across the two maps, but only 6 actual skyshards.

In fact, the developers have been careful to keep a multiple of 3 skyshards in every zone since Morrowind. Before that, they were more careless:

- 1 in the Wailing Prison (as a starter to show how skyshards work)
- 6 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 = 86 in EACH faction's entire set of quest zones, but there are 3 factions, so this gives us a multple of 3.
- 16 in Coldharbour. Oops, we have another extra 1.
- 46 in Cyrodiil - 15 for each faction, plus 1 on top of the mountain (which is in fact in Pact territory but doesn't count as one of the "Cyrodiil Pact Skyshards"). This 1 adds to the spare 1 from Coldharbour and the spare 1 fom the Wailing Prison to make 3, so the entire original game resolves to a total multiple of 3 skyshards, and thus a whole number of skill points.

Then were added, in DLCs:
- 18 in Craglorn - the early DLC that became part of the official main game while it was still a subscription-only model, and is now considered base-game because the game has never been "sold as free-to-play" without it. Still a multiple of 3 - so far, so good.
- 13 (12 plus an odd 1) in Imperial City (DLC, used to cost crowns but now free) - ooh, careless, this unbalanced the available number of skyshards by 1. Maybe somebody forgot the 1 in the Wailing Prison when doing the calculations.
- 17 (15 plus an odd 2) in Orsinium - this corrected the Imperial City mistake, the spare 2 from Orsinium can add to the spare 1 from Imperial City.
- 6 each in Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood... back on track again.

And ever since then, each "major" expansion (Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle) has had 18 skyshards: and each "small" expansion (Clockwork, Murkmire, Dragonhold, Markarth, Deadlands, and presumably the end of the Breton Season - "Firesong" I think?) has had 6.

Doubtful, because if you have only Skyshards installed and you downloadled the currnet version of its dependencies then it would be working.

The rest of the post is okay and I don't mind when people feel something doesn't work but you can understand that posting this sentence isn't helpful or appreciated.

As a returning player enough has changed because of ZOS patches that you can't load some older mods without conflicts. Users are at a disadvantage these days troubleshooting issues. You need more knowledge then you did in the past. OneDrive and whether or not you have a Steam version is important as well.

It is a bit difficult to believe you deleted your old Addons folder, made a new one, and installed only Skyshards and its dependencies because people want to cling to older mods that did something they like. Sometimes things like inventory mods (maybe a grid view) or bars they liked. Mods with LibStub are going to kill your game now even more then they did in the past. So it seems like maybe you have an addons folder and possibly just copied files or folders.

I can't help troubleshoot installs because I'm not there to see what you did. Don't keep backup folders (or zip/rar files) of older mods in your AddOns folder because the game loads anything it finds up to three folders deep. If you are a returning player you should rename your old AddOns folder and your old SavedVariables folder. Log into the game and let it create new ones then exit the game. Then install the mod and its dependencies with Minion.

I don't know if there are posts to help explain installation for Steam version vs the original ESO version in case you have a Steam version now.

Addon no longer works

Returning ESO player, I got skyshards and all dependencies installed. The addon shows as enabled but the /skyshards command is not recognized.

I removed all other addons. I manually installed all dependencies from the esoui site and I still can't get this addon to work.

Has anyone had any success?

Hello again, I'm sorry I've manually counted all the skyshards, and yes, there are 519. So there's a bug with the skyshards counter addon.

Also there's a mistake with the number of The Reach skyshards, there are 7, not 6.

Are there 519 skyshards in total so far?

Hello everybody!

I am about to get all skyshards from TESO, however I already reached 519 but I still need to get 4 more. Actually, I needed 5 and I took a skyshard and the counter didn't add it as the skyshard number 520, instead just remained 519.

So, are you sure there's 519 skyshards in total? because if I add 5 it's a total of 524.

I hope you can help

Whether or not you have Skyshards active during testing would not matter since it does not have any XML files. Any mod with a bindings.xml would not count either because that does not cause the error.

Baertram 04/19/22, 02:06 PM posted about the change but it is not a post for users with instructions on how to resolve it. This is something authors of the mod causing the issue have to resolve.

There isn't any easy way to detect possible mods in mass to narrow down which mods cause the issue that would be beneficial to users. One example is if you search the xml files for "<TopLevelControl" you will find that in almost any file for mods that have a user interface of some kind. However, you do not have the knowledge to go any further to determine if the mod would cause the error. It is not something that someone could document for users to resolve on their own.

Users are at a disadvantage because they are not developers and can not properly troubleshoot things like this. You did what you could and felt it had to be Skyshards but the programming doesn't exist that causes the issue.

None of the mods I maintain or support will do this.

You mean I have to try all my addons one by one combined with skyshards for find this occurent error? it's really long haha ^^ but i will try, thanks
What I do is to enable all addons that I use. Then disable the first 10 and do a /reloadui. If the the error still appears, then disable the next ten and so forth until the error does NOT appear. then I enable each one till the error appears, that is the offending addon.
Just a suggestion.

Then you need to keep looking because it isn't Skyshards. Skyshards doesn't even have an xml file.

Discrepancy with skyshards actually collected?

So, I have multiple alt characters, and one of them in particular has hardly adventured at all... But is being credited with having obtained several more skyshards than he actually has.

When I hit K to bring up the skills screen, it says I have 22/519 skyshards.

However, adding up all the Zone Guide numbers - and checking them in the Crown Store, which verifies the ability to purchase "the remaining X skyshards in a given zone" (and also allowing for the two that the Crown Store does not touch - the Wailing Prison one, which I have, and the one in Cyrodiil's highest peak which is not counted among the Ebonheart Pact skyshards, which I do not have) - I have in fact only found 17.

Two skyshards ago, I gained a skill point. This is consistent with this having been the 15th skyshard (a multiple of 3), and not consistent with it having been the 20th (not a multiple of 3).

When I disable the addon, it simply says "2/3 skyshards", which is the basic interface showing you how many you need to get the next skill point.

So how has SkyShards addon suddenly become convinced that this particular character has gained 5 more skyshards than it actually has?

My theory is that it's somehow incremented the "total number of skyshards gained" on occasions when it should not have incremented that number. Could this have happened as a result of being interrupted when trying to use a skyshard, and thus being wrongly credited with it by the addon, thus "gaining" the same skyshard multiple times according to the addon, but only (and correctly) once according to the game?
