Known Issues :
-Do not use a keybind that uses Alt. For example, Alt+Shift+x, Alt+Ctrl+x, all keybinds without Alt are good.
-If you get an error message first read and apply the information from above, written below the headline
After updating pChat please be sure to check the subfolder "lib" is not there anymore. If it is still there: Delete it!

Any problems : Please let me know with a comment or a PM.
Please read the sticky comment (first comment) before posting a bug!

Important information:
Chat addons cannot work properly if the CrownStore is open! This is due to ZOs restrictions to protect the crown store against changes via addons and affects the chat as well.

Other chat addons
FCOChatTabBrain: Auto switch multiple chat tabs upon incoming messges, remember last chat channel at each tab, automatically change chat channels to last incoming one upon pressing <chat start> (RETURN) key, redirect whisper messages, play sound notifications on messages (keywords, friends, group, leaders, guilds), auto switch to group, and many more features.

If your chat addon needs to be compatible with pChat
The CHAT_ROUTER:RegisterMessageFormatter only allows 1 function for each EVENT_CHAT_* callback function!
If you assign it new you'll overwrite exisitng ones!
So ALWAYS please check if any other chat addon is enabled, add these other known chat addons to your manifest txt ## OptionalDependsOn: list so the other addons load before your addon, and afterwards "post hook", or manually post hook, the other message formatter callback function -> See example for pChat below.
ATENTION: pChat uses the EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED callback to register the message formatters! If you want to post hook it you MUST do that after your own EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED callback! Using EVENT_ADD_ON_LOADED will make pChat overwrite your callback function again (and it's no good to use EVENT_ADD_ON_LOADED here as the chat is ready first after first called EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED)!

Example code for your EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED callback function, for the chat message formatter of EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL
Lua Code:
  1. local function myChatHandlersMessageChannelReceiver(channelID, from, text, isCustomerService, fromDisplayName)
  2.         --your chat EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL callback function
  3.     end
  4.     --For the example OR - Wrapper function for the existing EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL callbackFunction
  5.     local function myOnChatMessageChannelWrapper(messageText)
  6.        local messageTextNew = messageText
  7.        --Do whatever you need with the messageText passed in from original function
  8.        return messageTextNew
  9.     end
  10.
  11.
  12.     if pChat == nil then
  13.         --pChat is not loaded: Add your own handler to the CHAT_ROUTER
  14.         --I'd always check if any other chat addon is active though and maybe thus always add the code below, even if pChat is not loaded
  15.         --as it will keep exisitng callback functions of other addons or event add to the original vanilla chat formatter callback function
  16.         CHAT_ROUTER:RegisterMessageFormatter(EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL, myChatHandlersMessageChannelReceiver)
  17.     else
  18.         --pChat is loaded
  19.         --!!!ATTENTION!!!
  20.         --Do the following at EVENT_PLAYER_ACTIVATED after pChat has set CHAT_ROUTER:RegisterMessageFormatter(EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL, pChatChatHandlersMessageChannelReceiver)
  21.         --Get all chat formatters. Table formatters will contain the different chat event entries, like EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL now
  22.         local formatters = CHAT_ROUTER:GetRegisteredMessageFormatters()
  23.         --Get the chat callback function for EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL of pChat
  24.         local originalpChatFormatter = formatters[EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL]
  25.         if originalpChatFormatter then
  26.
  27.            --Either:
  28.             --Post Hook pChat's EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL callbackFunction by re-applying the own handler function
  29.             --which first calls pChat's function, and then your own code
  30.             CHAT_ROUTER:RegisterMessageFormatter(EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL, function(...)
  31.                 local messageTextOfpChatHandler = originalpChatFormatter(...)
  32.                 --Do something with messageTextOfpChatHandler if you need to
  33.                 return myChatHandlersMessageChannelReceiver(...)
  34.             end)
  35.
  36.           --Or:
  37.           --As the callback function of EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL returns  Instead of a manual posthook your could also define your own "wrapper" function around the original function
  38.           CHAT_ROUTER:RegisterMessageFormatter(EVENT_CHAT_MESSAGE_CHANNEL , function(...)
  39.                     return myOnChatMessageChannelWrapper(originalpChatFormatter (...))
  40.                 end)
  41.
  42.         end
  43.     end

## v10.0.2.0 ## 2021-06-19
-Changed the SavedVariables to Server dependent ones: Means NA and EU server will save different settings and histories now.
Your current "non-server dependent" settings will be automatically copied to the server you login (NA, EU, PTS).
On-screen and chat messages, as well as LibDebugLogger messages (in the DebugLogViewer UI if you use this) will show you what was migrated and as it finished (2 automatic reloadUIs should happen during the migration process).

Attention: You are able to delete the non-server dependent (old) SavedVariables, to clean up the SV file s ize and increase the loading times, by using the chat slag command /pchatdeleteoldsv
BUT: Do NOT use this command before having logged in to ALL of the servers you play on! These non-server dependent settings are used as the copy base for the different servers. Copying SV from e.g. server NA to EU is not possible! So FIRST login to each server you play on, enable pChat and the dependencies, watch the screen for the migration messages and the reloaduis until it says finished.
After having migrated all servers you can use the slash command to delete the old SV file contents.

## v10.0.0.3 ##
After some users were not able to find the name format dropdown boxes for guilds and groups in the chat channel submenus, and thought the name format setting in the chat message submenu would apply to all chat messages:
Changed the settings so that the "name format" dropdown boxes for guild and group are also shown (duplicate) in the "message options"->"names in messages" submenu.

Hopefully the "bug reports" stop now as you will find them all at one spot :-)

## v10.0.0.1 ##

Attention: If you got the addon "DebugLogViewer" enabled the debug messages of addons will be ONLY shown in the DebugLogViewer UI/Quicklog UI, and NOT in the normal chat anymore! This is normal and an intended behaviour.
-Chat tab switch to default chat tab, after login

Added:
-Settings to enable/disable the chat format handlers (colors, timestamps, names, etc.).
You can find these settings as new submenu inside the "Message settings" submenu.
The following chat handlers can be enable/disabled:
  • System messages
  • Group left
  • Group type change
  • Friends list online status
  • Ignore list added
  • Ignore list removed
Standard setting value is: Enabled
You can use them to disable the chat formatters for e.g. online status and thus fix problems with other addons like "No Thank You".
You MUST reload the UI to change these settings so be sure to do so after changing the checkboxe values.

ATTENTION - NEW DEPENDENCY since 2022-04-10:
LibAddonMenu - Sound slider widget https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info...dget.html#info

Please backup your SavedVariables regularly. Logout of the game before doing this! pChat will update and support server dependent settings + histories!
The SavedVariables backup reminder will remind you after APIversion changes, and can be disabled in the Backup settings submenu.

!READ THIS FIRST PLEASE, BEFORE SENDING NEW BUGs!
Ignoring this post and links in this post here will result in non-answered comments or even deleted comments!

HowTo report bugs/error messages properly
[Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors]

Be sure to read the "known bugs" and "incompatibility" list inside this sticky comment here first (further down!).
This might already fix your problems.

After this click the link "Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors" below and follow the information how to correctly report a bug here.

If you send in a comment about an error message or found bug, please always include the following information:
Read this first: [Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors]
Especially the sections "lua error messages" and "How to report a lua error message/a bug to the developers"
Main points to check and report here:
  • Did you update ALL the needed dependencies and other addons?
  • Did you test with ONLY the pChat addon & needed dependencies enabled, and is it working then (most probably another addon interfers then)?
  • What other addons did you use as the error happened and please find out which of them is causing the error by disableing them oner after another (if only pChat enabled works fine)?
  • More points and hints can be found at the link "[Troubleshooting AddOn install/find & reporting errors]"

Known incompatiblity with other addons
Library "libChat2" was removed from this addon.
-> Please delete it, and all other "libChat" occurences (watch the lower l as first character! Do not delete LibChat* libraries like LibChatMessage!). Also LibGardfield counts as libChat and needs to be deinstalled!
-> from your AddOns and subfolders, as they are non-functional anymore since 2019 and cause errors and problems with many other chat related addons.

Known bugs:
  1. My chat's size and position somehow is weird / does not sync across charaters?
If you got the "Chat config sync" setting enabled, then disable it and re enable it afterwards.
Make sure the chat is NOT minimized as you enable the Chat Config Sync and your currently logged in char is the one you want to copy the settings from to other chars!!! Open your chat screen manually if it auto-closes when changing the setting.
  2. My chat colors, name and other formatting is not working.
    Logout!
Remove old libraries from your other AddOns' folders and subfolderss where you are sure the libs are outdated or broken (e.g. LibMainMenu, libChat, libChat2, libChat3 -> libChat is broken so do not use or install it any longer!).
Update all your libraries/dependencies (especially chat related ones like LibChatMessage).
Read more about libraries/dependencies and installing/updating them here:
    https://www.esoui.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9149
    https://wiki.esoui.com/Libraries
  3. Whisper messages sometimes do not show the @accountName even though the settings are set to @accountName/charName or charName/@accountName.
I cannot find a way to reproduce this constantly. Seems as if the ESO source code is not providing the @accountName constantly to the event as the whisperMessage was received. As it's only a visual bug I may work on this in the future, if I find a way to reproduce it 100%
  4. Chat Mentions: Chat messages highlight/colorized and add the ! icon at your own send messages, even if you have disabled to do so.

Beta version
https://github.com/Baertram/pChat/ar...at_guildId.zip
Attention: After opening the ZIP archive be sure to ONLY extract the subfolder "pChat" in the the folder "pChat-pChat_guildId". Do not extract the whole folders into your /live/AddOns directory!
Your live/AddOns dir must look like this afterwards:
Code:
/Elder Scrolls Online/live/AddOns/pChat/pChat.txt

Other chat addons
FCOChatTabBrain: Auto switch multiple chat tabs upon incoming messges, remember last chat channel at each tab, automatically change chat channels to last incoming one upon pressing <chat start> (RETURN) key, redirect whisper messages, play sound notifications on messages (keywords, friends, group, leaders, guilds), auto switch to group, and many more features.

Cleaning non-server dependent SavedVariables
Attention: You are able to delete the non-server dependent (old) SavedVariables, to clean up the SV file size and decrease the loading times, by using the chat slash command /pchatdeleteoldsv

But it's not convenient to play without it. turned it on and now had to turn it off again.

The error 303 especially is related to network issues or server errors.
https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/#en/answer/52702
-> Got nothing to do with addons
Could also be that your SavedVariables of the many laoded addons in total are too big to handle for the game and thus loading times are too much and the server looses connection (that's why sometimes even ESO error 303 could be related to addons, well...). But pChat handles that by truncating the savedvariabes size and only storing a maxium of history entries.
Try to reduce the history saved hours, maybe it helps. But usually it should not matter unless you got 5 guilds with very much guild chat within 24hours, at the same time. Then the SV size of pChat could get very big.
But sould still be handlable, if you do not have like 100 other addons with big SV active at the same time.

Error 334
May have to do with addons, but I never experienced this with my pChat (and 100 other addons) enabled?
Nor do any other guilds of mine having trouble with it.

Normally these errors appear if any addon is sending messegs to the server too quickly, and pChat does not send any messages.
It listens to chat messages only.

But what could be the problem here is that any addons in combination will be a problem, and pChat was only the "one disabled" which made the total sum of events/messages sned/receievd by the server bee too much in the end.
But pChat alone is clearly not the culprit here! Else many others would have the problem including me.

What I experienced is that addons that e.g. send combat data to group members, or use ways to send ultimate data, heal/dps etc. values to group memebrs or even only to yourself, or any total UI change/replacement addons send messages to the server.
Or "mass desconstrucion" or similar carfting addons that do things as bulk/mass.
Or auto repair/auto charge addons could also be an issue.

Overall you canot say it's only 1 addon, often it's many in combination.
So all you can do is use less of the addons at the same time, or find out which one exactly is causing the problems.

But it's definately not pChat (alone).
Yes, the problem is much broader. I know what you wrote. I have a description for the guild on how to reduce the size of savevariables.
Now the size has become significantly smaller from 100-120 MB to 60-70. I know which of the installed addons are garbage. But situations 2.

1. A friend wrote to me on Friday. his game simply did not load after selecting a character. We have disabled all addons. Loading completed. They began to include 10 pieces. We reached the block with pchat. and as a result, they turned it on and the game did not load immediately. Turned off - went in.

2. I play on several computers in different places and with different providers. Lists of addons and saves are synchronized.
1st network is very good. stable 100Mb/s. but this is where errors 303, 334 constantly occur
The 2nd network passes through a number of security complexes and a limit of 25 MB/s. but it never has these problems.
Also, the backbone provider, these last mile providers have the same one.
I play on computers at the same time.
During errors, I turn off various addons and see what happens. pchat one of the addons after turning it off immediately starts normally.
Okay, still cannot see or think of any code in pchat that could make the server/client connection go mad
Do your guild mates use the newest versions and updated all libraries properly? Often old files could be an issue.

Let them totally delete the live/AddOns/pChat folder! Afterwards download and extract new (No Minion! Manually from here: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/dl93...p?171075662215) then extarct the zip file pChat folder and put it into live/AddOns manually.
Same for the needed dependencies.

That's just to make sure all files are the correct ones, no old libraries or subfolders were still there due to "overwriting only".

You can try this so maybe we can narrow it more down somehow:
1. Ingame LAM settings menu: Make screenshot of pChat settings for later
1. Logout
2. Backup your pChat SavedVariables
3. Remove the pChat SavedVariables file then so it will be created with defaults on next login
4. Login to character selection
5. At the char selection -> AddOns list enable the 10 addons + pChat where you got the disconnects/problems.
Make sure needed libraries are enabled too!
6. Test if this helps

If it works that way, then configure your pChat the same way as before (see point 1), maybe in steps.
e.g. test if enabling and saving the chat history maybe an issue here.
-> That may need a day to collect the chats and save them to the SavedVariables again, so maybe your problem with the disconnect only appears next day then!

Everything else I checked already in the code and I cannot see what could be any issue
Using ZOs API and ways like ZOs does it in their chat, no special hidden features or whatever.
I still doubt it actually is pChat that causes it, it must be something in combination then.

Which 10 addons you spoke off are the ones that make the client disconnect if pChat is enabled in addition?
Could you provide me a name lsit please.

That sometimes happen if your game client crashed or pChat SavedVariables got corrupted somehow.
Do you use any other addon that copies your eso settings for characters like "Acocunt Wide Settings *"? Then disable the chat sync there if it got such a setting!

Normally pChat fixes itsself as you click somewhere in tha chat and try to resize it to the top e.g. -> then all of sudden it jumps back into original position.
But you can also try this:
Disable ALL other addons and libraries not needed for pChat so we are sure NO other addons interfere here! Afterwards /reloadUI

Disable in pChat settings the "chat config sync" between characters (this would copy the currently logged in character's chat settings to the next logged in, and then the next logged in settings to the after that logged in, and so on! It won't copy the currently logged in settings to all others chars!!! It's always copying from char to char so if any in between changes the chat that will reflect autmatically "to the next logged in char" and so on -> chain).

Define the chat tab layout and config, size etc. you'd like to use on the character and then do a /reloadui in chat to reload the user interface and properly save the savedvariables. Logout, login next char.
Repeat that on the other characters where needed.
At the end enable the chat config sync again IF you really need that.

If that does not help you might need to logout, backup your pChat SavedVariables file in c:\users\...\documents\elder scrolls online\live\SavedVariables\pChat.lua and remove the original file then there.
Login againa nd reconfigure pChat new.

[account] has logged out with [character].

Also of note, I just switched characters and there was an inconsistency, but now all of those messages have been stripped of [system]. (But just from the chat on the previous character, another friend just logged and [System] is back.)
pChat does not write any [System] in front as far as I know (or at least I never noticed it).
pChat ususally only writes the [@accountName]has logged out/in with charName, or similar
This may come from any on your other addons you use then or any library hat other addons use?

Please disable all other addons and libraries, only use pChat and needed dependencies and try again.
If the [System] still is shown then check the pChat settings if there is anything that prefixes the chat messaes with their chat channel.
If not, it was any other addons/lib you got enabled and you need to find out which one by your own please (enabling them 1 after anoher or in blocks. The addon profile addon "AddonSelector" may help you with it as you can SHIFT+left click at the addon list to enable/disable blocks of addons. Attention: If you enable any addon with AddonSelector it automatically enables the dependencies too! So check that only the wanted addons and dependencies for your currnt test got enabled before doing the reloadUI!)

Hello Ritter,

Are you sure both errors are the same? The call stack looks different at the 2 errors. One relates to changing a chat tab, the other to whispering someone.
Are those 2 different error cases both relating to the same error or did you just enable the enhanced error popup checkbox?

What did you do in detail as the error appeared?
Did you maybe change your chat tabs in the past (removed tabs or added) and did your client crash then?
Try to reopen your chat tab settings of each tab and save it again, then /reloadui to update your SavedVariables properly.

What you must always do please, before reporting errors: Disable all other addons!
Then try to get the same error again.
-If yes: You are able to rebuild the error again?
Please tell me in simple steps, from /reloadui or login to the error, how to do that:

Example:
1. Login/ /reloadui
2. Move mouse above any player
3. Press keybind to whisper to that player below the crosshair
4. Enter any text and press return key
5. Error occurs

-If not: Please find out which of your other addons, in combination with pChat, leads to that error message.

Thanks for updating that info.

It works like a charm. Thanks for the quick reply!

1. Locate "slugfont.exe" in your ESO installation e.g. "D:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client" and copy it into your "pchat/fonts/yourfont"-folder

2.a Use Command Prompt
Press Win+R or use windows search, type "cmd" and press enter. a new window will open.
Type:
Code:
cd C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns\pChat\fonts\yourfont
while changing the "yourfont" part to the name of your fonts-folder and press enter.
Now that you are in the right folder you can start slugfont.exe and let it do its magic.
The syntax for it is:
Code:
slugfont.exe "FontName.ttf" -o "FontName.slug"
Do this for every font in your folder. It might take a few seconds to convert a file.

2.b Use .bat file
Right-click in your fonts folder, choose new and Text Document
Open it and write the same command as above, you can write multiple lines, one for each font you
want to change
Then go to "Save as...", name it "slug.bat", choose "All Types" for file type and save it in your fonts
folder.
Open the newly created slug.bat and wait a bit, some custom fonts can take a few seconds to get
converted it will automaticaly close after converting all named fonts.

3. Open "fonts.lua" with your texteditor and add a new line at the bottom containing your fonts name&path

Code:
LMP:Register("font", "YourFont", "pChat/fonts/YourFont/YourFont.slug")
do this for every newly added font then save it.

Re: Re: Personnalized fonts

Thank you for the explanation Antisenil, much appreciated.

And yes, I know the obsolete fonts are still in. Had to work on some other projects. As pchat works I did not ouch it yet (again)
